15 Dead in China Mine Collapse

BEIJING (AP) - A collapse in a gold mine in southern China has killed at least 15 people and injured four, one seriously, an official newspaper said Wednesday.

Rescuers worked through the night after Monday's accident at the rural mine 38 miles from Baise city in Guangxi province and had dug out 15 bodies and the four injured by late Tuesday, the Beijing Evening News said.

The newspaper said it was unclear whether another five people trapped in the mine were still alive, the newspaper said.

The newspaper did not say what caused the collapse.
