"The four ISPs; Flashcom Communications, Zyan Communications, Relay Point and FastPoint represent more than 32,000 digital subscriber line customers using Covad's network that will soon have no DSL service."

elmatador- Maybe there should be an "ISP is dead" discussion as apparently that is what has caused the data-CLECs angst. IMO, the narrowband ISP will not be able to compete in a broadband world without government intervention. And IMO that is the last thing we need--More government intervention. The current government intervention model is not working in the CLEC world. It won't work in the ISP world.

I would like to see all the mom and pop ISPs congregated under the ownership of the telcos, cablecos, or wireless SPs. AOL read the writing on the wall and did something BIG about it. If the smaller ISPs follow suit, then 'forced access' is an issue that will go away on it's own. And if the CLECs subsequently fade away, then the unbundling issue may go away too. Pure competition leading to Broadband nirvana! -MikeM(From Florida)
