gtf....individual issues that have gains and are trading above average volume....conversely the same issues on a retrace should trade below average volume....large point gainers or losers on less then average volume are difficult to gauge, may indicate day trading...you want to look for issues that institutions are accumulating which in essence starts a basing and support......day traders only move issues for the day, and short positions are not long lasting...neither establishes a longer term trend...
