Stockman, George Bush fought the re-count for the reasons displayed in Broward and Palm Beach. Changing of standards on several occassions. I think they felt the re-count couldn't be done fairly, whether you agree or not, I think Broward County proved their original contention. There fear of that led to their fight. You also keep saying those ballots were not counted, over 90% of those ballots had NO VOTE. They were counted, they had NO VOTE. Yes there were some that could be disputed, but the majority of the "Uncounted" ballots had no vote for President.

Reasonable Standards Stockman, Gore only wins if "dimples" are counted. This entire deal boiled down to forcing people to count dimples and scratches. Democrats needed "dimples" to count. Bush was not "foot dragging"....they were objecting to using a "dimple, scratch, fly poop" standard....and only in Democratic counties. The GOP had every right ot cry "BS".....because it was BS. It was huge BS. The Democratic party screwed this up big......They should have allowed the first certification to go through...and asked for a full undervote recount in the contest....with a clearly defined standard. Instead...they went day to day..... sued canvassing boards who "dared" not to count dimples and scratches....and placed way too many chips on "just let America see counting going on...who cares if it is valid or reasonable" The Democrats would not have won on a recount using the West Palm standard....and it is the West Palm standard that should have been used. Both parties know this.....and anyone with 1/2 a brain knows this. For the last 5 weeks......The only hope the Democrats had...was to force a BS standard to be used....and for Democrats to be "reading" the ballots.....while pumping up the base with talk of how "up-front and honest" this whole effort was. Jeeesh... The DNC knew exactly what they were doing from day one....and I suggest that they decided to go forward because they thought that they could "get away with it". Well....they did not "get away with it"......The snow job the DNC did on their own party will catch up with them...IMO. I hope they do count the votes....and use the West Palm standard. The Democrats will look rather foolish. Believe me....the GOP will have no problem with a full undervote recount using the West Palm standard. bg
