Far be it from me to criticize supreme court justices as I am not a lawyer, judge or constitutional scholar but the FSC had 2 opportunities to render a fair and equitable decision. The first decision blew my mind not in that they extended the deadline, but they actually allowed for selective recounts and offered no guidance. The second decision was slightly better in that it called for a statewide recount but again offered no guidance and allowed the counts to pick up where they left off with no hope for fairness or accuracy! The weeklong efforts of Broward and Palm Beach counties to recount ALL the ballots by hand wasted valuable time for the Gore camp. Machine recounts and the subsequent standards based manual recount of the over/undervotes could have been done in a fraction of the time and could have been initiated statewide from the git-go. The total lack of logic and good judgement exercised by many folks in this country really gets to me sometimes. MH

Messages I hope this election has delivered: 1.) It's time to stop being complacent with our election laws and election technology and to ensure fairness and equal protection for all voters. 2.) When you go to fill out your ballot, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. 3.) If you feel you have been wronged, it is your responsibility to ask for a FAIR AND REASONABLE resolution to your conflict that reasonable people will agree to. You cannot expect others to do it for you. 4.) Election conflicts are not resolved in the media and public airwaves, but in the courts and other government channels. 5.) You can't change the rules after the game is played. 6.) It's time to get off your duff and vote. If you didn't vote, this year especially, you have no right to complain. V
