Tiger,

The son of Justice Scalia was granted a high paying law job on election day, and the republicans then hired the firm for big bucks. The Supreme Court is not prepared to play in this arena and survive as an institution.

Not to mention that Scalia's interest in the Chief Justice position, which is only possible under Bush. Or the top election official in Florida seeking an ambassadorship in the Bush administration. Or the Governor of Florida promising "to deliver Florida" to his brother. Or a flurry of phone calls between Austin and Tallahassee on election night, after exit polls showed Gore the winner. Or tens of thousands of double punched ballots in Democratic Counties (gosh, I wonder how that could have happened.)

This election makes Central American politics look respectable.

Elmer, don't bother to reply till you are done listening to Rush.

They hide in their offices, and when they are in public, they hide behind their black robes. They have a life time job so they probably believe that will escape criticism. Or at least they believe they can ignore it.

You could be right though. As the Republican pack the SC court, they'll enforce their values on Americans. One day, with the backing of the Supreme Court, they might even refuse to call a new election. Now that's called a dictatorship.

Every country has fallen into the pits at one time or another and never recovered. This may be the beginning of our fall.
