IN SEARCH OF PRINTER'S INK....The public has the right to consider the following
letter....and yet no "Editor" in Texas will print it....WHY?

Dear Editor:

WHY ON EARTH WOULD ANYONE VOTE REPUBLICAN? Fifty years ago Former President Harry Truman astutely observed: "The Republicans have only one program….save the rich man from paying taxes." Folks, this plan hasn't changed one iota over the past fifty years, and in fact, may be even more true today than fifty years ago!

For instance, recently the "slash and burn tax plan" of the Republican right, which has taken over the Republican Party, concluded that the rising cost of gasoline had hit a critical mass, and the "Republican Leadership" decided this could be used by Bush to bash Gore (and were just starting folks).

In any event, they went into high gear to seek repeal of the 3% Federal Tax on gasoline, set in place by the Clinton Administration in 1993. Governor Bush quickly issued a statement calling it the "Gore Gas Tax", and it looked like we were in for a long spell....

And then as quickly as it appeared as an issue, all the spin went into a tail-spin when it was realized that this 3% was being used to do a lot of highway repair in Republican Districts, and the removal of this tax would have eliminated a lot of Republican Congressional pork! So by the end of the week, the big "tax cut" of the week….had slid into total obscurity… causing one to note that "Compassionate Conservatism", like "Republican Leadership" is an oxymoron!

It might be acceptable for the American people if all of these antics by the Republican Party, could be relegated to comic relief, such as above…..but unfortunately that isn't the case! the fact is, these people don't have a clue! They have no programs, they have no ideas….they have no sense that societies exist only because the members of that society have a collective interest in the welfare of all of its members, and that "altruism" and "self-preservation" are simply flip sides of the same coin. "We are our brother's keeper" is not just a scriptural message, it is a scriptural warning that this is an essential ingredient in creating a safe and sane world!

To paraphrase a great human, Sam Rayburn, "Any jackass can tear down a barn, but it takes a real carpenter to build one."….the current "Republican leadership" only knows how to tear down and destroy (and waste the taxpayer's money on ENDLESS and NEEDLESS investigations), and thus rich and poor, alike, lose under their inept schemes.

Globalization and Automation have created a whole new set of social problems…..calling for a whole new set of social solutions. We must seek out "problem-solving" solutions in the new millennium, such as Economic Inclusivism (www.Inclusivism.org) …because we have no other choice! The inept "Republican leadership " under the misguided nonsense of idiots like Rush Limbaugh, wants to "lead" America into a world unfit for human habitation, thus begging the question: WHY ON EARTH WOULD ANYONE VOTE REPUBLICAN?
