Need Assistance.... Please help...

I would appreciate it if the following questions could be answered accurately... please provide links to the answers if at all possible.

1. How many "under votes" or "un-counted" votes were there NATIONWIDE?

2. How many "under votes" or "un-counted" votes were there in the ENTIRE STATE of FLORIDA?

3. How many counties in Florida used the so called " butterfly ballot"?

Thank you to anybody who will be kind enough to answer these questions.

( hi Ron )

Ron,

You seem to see an absolutely clear distinction between punching a ballot hard enough to perforate it, and punching it hard enough to leave an imprint, but not hard enough to perforate it.

I don't personally, and there are some legal standards (such as in Texas) that don't either. There have also been some court decisions that have allowed dimpled chads to count. For example, in the Delahunt primary, Delahunt argued that the ballots had become damp on a rainy day and hard to perforate, which produced an abnormally high undervote. The court agreed and the dimpled chads were counted. Then Massachusetts outlawed punch card ballots.

This is why I say reasonable people can disagree about how you determine the clear intent of the voter. Because the courts and legislatures of this country have disagreed how you determine it.
