OK, OK ... it's time to make all on the thread feel a little better of themselves ...

Let me tell you MY tale:

1) Yesterday, while on the golf course I got a call from my car transporter than my NEW 2001 Jaguar XK8 had arrived at their terminal next to Palm Beach Airport

2) At 1pm, I drove in my 'old' 99 XK8 with a friend up to pick my NEW white exteriored with cashmier colored interior up

3) Within 2 miles of the transporter I drove onto 95 from the entrance ramp and a tanker truck carrying that tar & oil mixture which they spray over newly paved road pulled in front of me ..... now don't get ahead of yourselves by thinking either the truck hit me or spayed me in my new car ... NOOOOO .... he wasn't spraying BUT he forgot to close his taker top and hit a bump .... AND plopped this gooooy black tar&oil mixture over my exterior and interior .... he exited unknowingly immediately .... the only way I could catch him and get his info was to brake immediately and exit too ... BUT that would have caused my friend now driving my 'old' XK8 to rear-end me ... so I didn't get any ID.

4) Upon getting to my destination I had the exterior washed and that went fine. THEN I went to 4 detail experts who were unable to remove a sintilla (sp?) of the gook off my leather interior.

5) Got home, poured myself a Crown Royal, turned on CNBC and immediately heard CPQ's warning .... WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY !!!!!

6) Today after going to 3 leather experts who couldn't budge my 101 dalmaytion's mess I went to a Jaguar dealer who after trying 5 compounds found something that removed the mixture without damaging the leather --- lacquer thinner.

7) So .... here I am after working 3 hours with the Lacquer Thinner ---- which I removed 99% of the spots .... having a Crown Royal and reading this thread.

Thanks to ALL for reading this and I hope you realize how moderately worse things could be.

Michael
