i conclude that the growth in debt is now in part firmly in Ponzi territory, where new debt is incurred to pay off old debt, in view of cashflows no longer supporting debt service of the more marginal weaker borrowers.

Aren't cashflow-negative enterprises being priced out of the debt market? Junk spreads at historiic highs and all...this seems to be the case for failing DSL carriers, for example. What sectors do you see engaging in Ponzi cyclicality?

Well, I for one am of the view that we have pulled a 'japan'
going back to the S&L bailouts. the piper still has not been paid, only sent more and more children as hostages...
(thats how the story goes, isnt it?)
