Another story I heard (similar to Passover Plot) was that Jesus in an attempt to fulfill scripture had himself drugged on the cross (supposedly hidden in vinegar). There was some help by the guards so they didn't finish him off in the end. He was supposed to lie in the grave until revived by his men. The plan was to then present himself in Jerusalem as a messiah. The plan went wrong when he either died, or was too brain damaged to be exhibited in public, so then packed him off to the back country.

The whole idea of wrath in a God is a little silly isn't it?
