I think someone has been pushing the price down with one hand (easy to do when the bids thin out) and making deals for blocks to cover shorts with the other hand.

Perhaps a MM that had net capital problems last week is being persuaded to reduce its margined holdings a bit more to avoid further trouble. I'm trying to get more information. The SEC is interested in this sort of thing.
