Just as in the stock market, the future is always somehow discounted. It's like there is a giant collective toteboard in cyberspace discounting the future.

Buying a computer is pretty much the same thing. For the most part, you are not going to spend a lot of money buying a computer that could be outdated the minute you plug it in. You would like to have it around for 3 to 5 years.

You are buying it for the future - not for what you were doing in the past.

So you place your bets....
