I don't blame President Clinton or Mr. Greenspan, Mr. Major. Remember all the little tricks that Big Business rolled out between '96-'98 to boost the bottom line ... and, in turn ... the price of the stock? Well, guess what? They're biting Big Business in the butt right now.

When you downsize a workforce by 35%, you get a nice little boost in earnings for the next fiscal year because of lower overhead. But somewhere down the road you pay a price. Instead of a live person answering the phone after 5 p.m., the company now has an answering machine with 58 touch-tone options. You take it from there.

I also find it humorous that you give Clinton no credit for the economic boom of the late '90s, but suddenly he is to blame for the present slowdown.

Can't have it both ways.

I think you may find it useful to return to college and major in economics (no pun intended). Then you wouldn't post such absurdities.
