I am in Florida and I sincerely don't believe it happened. There could have been an isolated incident of some encounter but I know a lot of blacks personally and I haven't heard anyone complain. And, they voted. It is a requirement in Florida to show your voter registration and a photo ID card. They know me at my precinct and I still am asked to produce the documents. I have no problem with that as they are trying to insure the person voting is the person supposed to be voting. If, for some reason, you don't have the proper ID you can still vote but it requires filling out an affadavit confirming identity. Another thing that may have happened to some extent is people who registered to vote with the "motor voter" registration method were not properly forwarded from the drivers license folks to the supervisors of election. There will be a lot of new law, policy revisions, probably new voting equipment, etc. but I do not believe there was any concerted effort to disenfranchise andyone from their opportunity to vote as long as they followed the rules. The black vote was a very high percentage of their registered voters. One negative thing, in my mind, the democrats did was go into the prisons and jails and get prisoners who had not yet been sentenced or were in on misdemeanors to cast an absentee ballot. It is also alleged they sneaked some convicted felons votes in there. One thing we should all be upset about and needs to be resolved for the next election and that is that our military lose their vote for reasons beyond their control. I am also upset with Sen. Daschel for fighting a current bill to allow military precincts on military bases. I think we should, if we favor anyone, favor our fighting men and women who make great sacrifices for our benefit.
