All valid points Bruce. Another thought has occured to me- what if GM was looking to lower the price of Pd in order to stockpile as cheaply as possible? Well, the best way to do that might be to shake out the speculators with downsided remarks. GM's timing was interesting, don't you think? LBJ used to call this "jawboning". He had such a way with words.
