u must know about punch card systems (and therefore chads) :-) My 1st IBM1401 was a joy in terms of concise programming

Oh yeah! I wrote some Autocoder and even operated a 1401 with a disk drive attached.

I cut my teeth on the RCA Spectra series, which was S360 architecture, down to the instruction set. BAL was my language and I liked to stay in the privileged state and do channel programming most of all. Wrote a job scheduler and input spooler for the RCA-DOS op sys. (Input was the card reader.)

Now that was computing!
