marginmike, People that I know at Sun have said that it is business as usual. If your friends are bummed about stock price, that is different from performance. If performance is still strong, Sun would be a buy. IDC said today (or recently per an article on marketwatch.com) that server sales are still strong. Lumping Sun in with the PC sector is just wrong.

as far as the opticals are concerned, valuations are enormous but I seriously doubt that sales are off. Recent comments from Cien, GLW and SCMR support this.

plus the internet investment portfolio worries at CMGI, Dell, etc.

also, concern for semis that the contract mfrs had been hoarding parts the last quarter and orders were being cancelled or delayed.
