Rarebird, little chance of the UK accepting the euro. The opinion here is currently about 3 to 1 against it. Blair's promised referendum on joining will be put off again - even if he wins the election. Denmark showed the humiliation of a government losing a euro referendum, and Blair took note.

As one who has long felt that GATA was greatly exaggerating the role of manipulation in keeping POG down I am beginning to have second thoughts. The dollar has dropped sharply of late and gold has hardly responded. If this kind of action continues I doubt if POG will go over $300 even if the dollar index drops to 100.

Something very wrong with the gold market quite aside from the strong dollar.
