The tree fall pattern as note by the original investigator was entirely diagnostic of an air burst. The trees in the center were left standing like telegraph poles because there was only a vertical component to the pressure field.

My work internet connection bites and wouldn't load your link for some reason. I read it for the first time this morning. The current thinking is it would be very difficult to tell the difference between a dead comet covered with a layer of rocky debris and a poorly consolidated stoney asteroid.
