Neil, I wish it were only a matter of a teleprompter, or two. But somehow I get the feeling when I watch the media's pundits portray the situation as "it's gonna be all right, because Bush spoke before Democrats" in his speech, I get a strong feeling we're spoonfed.

What else is new? We were spoonfed when they didn't let Nader into the debates.

I agree, it's nice to have resolution. However, I go back to my feelings last Saturday when they were finally putting an end to the counting, before the U.S. court halted it. Several times that day I uttered I could accept Bush as president because the votes would have been counted.

This so-called resolution rested on the 5-4 vote, one of which came from an individual, Justice Scalia, who had serious conflicts of interest (one son in Ted Olson's law firm; the other recently hired in Barry Richard's law firm--Bush's two top attorneys). This conflict went beyond partisan party lines and ultimately became the decisive vote which effectively ended Florida's election.

If there's any hero from the high court, it's David Souter, who although appointed by Bush's dad, ruled according legal precedent. Were there some constitutional questions and hence the 7-2 vote? Yes, and Souter sided with this. Were they reparable? Yes, according to Justice Souter and he sided with the minority in the 5-4 vote which effectively halted counting Florida's votes.

Indeed, the United States Supreme Court wimped out by mandating the case back to Florida with only three hours remaining on the December 12th deadline.

Anyway, I've enjoyed our dialogue on this thread these past few months and now that Bush has been annointed by the Supreme Court, this thread will stay alive and the debate continued.

Congratulations to your side of the argument!
