James, You are not missing anything. The fact is that Cien had not written down the acquisition costs of Omnia when the stock rocketed from the lows. The founders of Omnia were not even able to sell all of their shares until the cost of the deal exceeded 2 billion. They were rewarded on a cost basis of 1-2 billion for a box that is gone. that is an awesome deal for them and I could not be happier for those that are now set up for life. My original comment had to do with the decision by Ciena to buy the product before it was actually deployed in a real network. tp
