Without getting out my dictionary, I think "archy" means government, not law. From the Greek "archos." That's what I remember, anyway.

Monarchy = government by a king.

Oligarchy = government by the wise.

Plutarchy = government by the rich.

Anarchy = no government.

Edit: now that I think about it, I think archos means ruler, not government. The word government derives from the Greek word for helmsman or pilot. That's why a mechanical device that controls the speed of a machine is called a governor.

Several science fiction writers have written about future anarchist societies - Heinlein, a little, and L. Neil Smith a lot. The Libertarian Party of Arizona had L. Neil Smith on the ballot this year instead of Harry Browne.
