Why do you feel it is only the conservatives who showed what their beliefs were through their rulings? Because the liberals stay consistent in their judicial philosphohy. In this case, the conservatives abandoned their traditional judicial philosophy on federalism and states rights. Their decision is inconsistent with their past decisions and philosophy. They realized this so they made a statement that the case should not be considered as a precedent. They did not want it to come back and haunt them.

You're right. It was definitely the liberal judges who showed they were more partisan. And they voted as a block, unlike the Republican appointees.
