chomo,

You do the yen:dollar trade. Can you explain in any detail why Neiderhoffer committed seppuku in October, 1997? I've always wanted to understand the details of his positions and haven't been able to make sense of his catastrophic losses from the information available to me. A PM might be good, should you feel that we're touching a third rail here.

I believe he got on the wrong side of the trade and simply wasn't able to unwind in time to avoid the market rolling over. Probably enhanced by counter-parties who simply didn't want to fill in a time of great turmoil. Sort of reminiscent of the destruction of PG&E and SCE that is being engineered today. Or do you follow the electron market closely enough to know why these icons of the utility industry are being destroyed? Have the key investors simply moved their assets into the IPPs and are throwing in the towel on the tranmission side, hoping to get it into co-op hands? Any idea what game is afoot? For surely there is one. And it is jerking around the entire West Coast for the sake of a few speculators. Hell, this sort of thing might even make me resentful of what capitalism represents at its deep dark black heart. Nothing, absolutely nothing other than greed.

But I digress. Gotta get back to tending the lamb chops....

TTFN, Ray
