My funeral has been indefinitely postponed, thank you.

You sound like a pallbearer.

Are you as short in ORCL as
you are long in MSFT?

I certainly agree that ORCL isn't immune to a meltdown, and if companies stop buying software the whole sector is dead. But it's quite possible for companies to quit buying MSFT software without that meaning that there is no IT investment. I've seen a general slowdown in the rate at which people upgrade PC's (both at various companies that I know about and among my friends and relatives) because there is no compelling reason for people to buy bigger hardware. My in-laws use computers heavily, but they spend a large and increasing fraction of their time surfing the net, and so having a faster PC or newer O/S doesn't mean anything to them. I'm sure that you understand this, so I'd like to know why you are convinced that IT spending overall is dropping significantly (Sun certainly seems to be selling a lot of boxes). The companies that are warning seem to be concentrated in the PC sector...

"At this point, we see no slowing of our business," and, "All tech companies are not the same." , says Henley.

ORCL's fate is more closely tied to MSFT's than you'd like to imagine.

I submit, WT, that the converse is the case -- that ORCL's fate is less closely tied to MSFT's than you'd like to imagine.
