B) Who the hell would buy it when they could get a decent Pentium based system with a million times the amount
of software choice?

I've never used one. My husband loves his and cold give you numerous reasons for his preference for Sun's Ultra Sparc but I'd have to persuade him to sit down and write to you, and, at the moment, I think he is too tired to do so. He has mentioned that there isn't as much software but I think more comes onto the market. Recently, he received a packet of software from Sun that even included a Oracle product, but through the Netscape Browser he can access Windows and I assume all of MSFT's products.

I know he finds the UNIX system far more stable than Windows/Intel. For one of his projects, he has a Dell workstation that runs NT, and the people who run NT are not that impressed with its stability.

He's very happy with Star Office and Netscape and uses his Ultra Sparc as his own personal PC. He likes to write code. Usually, he likes to write in "C."Nowadays he learns JAVA but he only started JAVA recently.

He wants a system that can run critical data and UNIX does this or that's what I hear.

I'm not a techie, but there are many folks here who could answer your questions.

Best Wishes for the Holidays,

Mephisto
