humm you got me thinking on that one. I might want some of this.
Futures are a disaster at this hour. People really need to get over those warnings. Our economy is "bought out". What that means in more technical terms (Jo Ellen will vouch for me on this) is that WE HAVE BOUGHT IT ALL, DONE IT ALL, BUILT IT ALL. In 6 months we will start doing it all again. The car will be dented, the clothes worn out, the computer busted, the software replaced by something faster. In the 50 years we have not IMBO reached the level that we have in our economy today. A used car is now one that is 24 months old. There will be no inflation, there never was going to be any inflation. What Allen Greenspan failed to realize is that when the money flow is as hot and as heavy as it has been it burns itself out, on its own.
What smart companies should be doing now is putting money into R&D to come up with the next "hot new thing".
As for stocks I still think there are some great ones to be bought. AOL and TWX merger, there has never been a bigger more powerful multi-media company than the one that was created by this merger. AOL stock at 50 IMBO is a great buy. (Although I may wait to see if I can pick it up cheaper).
Drug companies and Genetic companies. These companies will only continue to get bigger and better. If you can stand the ups and downs in the stock prices these are companies that may end up paying for your kids college someday (IMBO).Look at companies like ABI, INCY, CRA, MLNM, GLGC, DCGN, OXGN etc. Do some real research and pick a winner. These are companies that are on the cutting edge..
Software companies. MSFT is and always will be a great company. However they are losing market share in some areas. Figure out to whom they are losing. Linux is hot now and will be for quite awhile because of all the different things programmers can do with it. Speak with some programmers and see what they like.
Oh how I can rant when I want to.....at any rate make your shopping list and when we bottom, make your buys.
