I think a little dose of skepticism is healthy. Management is paid to give a positive spin so I don't think you can take what they say at 100% face value even for the simple reason that even Management can't see three months ahead these days.

In regards to the e-commerce initiative, i would say that an area of concern for me is that with all the internet companies floundering out there, how can one be so sure that won't affect Oracle's business. (Aren't many of their customers dotcom companies?). Sure, they say that they are going after the brick/click and mortars but look at MarchFirst, Razorfish, etc. they are saying the same thing and their stocks are in the toilet. Same thing is advertising. Yahoo!'s ad revenues dependent on dotcoms but are saying that they are focussing on old economy. Will take a while in my opinion and the stock reflects that. In this investment environment, it pays to be cautious.
just my 2 cents worth.
