I suspect that before it is all said and done the 2001 earnings estimates for cpq will be revised down to the .85 - .90 range. Yea I know - that is a 25% decrease from the consensus of 1.20. But remember this post and we'll see how 2001 shapes up. With IT spending dropping (like msft says and that Capellas denies) cpq will be in deep doo-doo. Lets face it, MC may be talented in terms of stopping the bleeding but he has yet to be tested in terms of growing the company. Larry Ellison is on cnbc and says that investors must differentiate between pc centric companies and internet centric companies. Oracle is internet centric while msft is pc centric. He said that pc centric companies are doomed (does that include cpq?).

El...How true...
Clinton and Greenspan had an agreement early on.

Separation of power ....
Clinton balance the budget
Greenspan take care of the economy.

CPQ stock is where it was 4 years ago.
What is scary is what happened in Japan in 1989.
They still have not recovered.

Hopefully, we don't have as long with CPQ.
