Wonder how much the mutual funds are distributing as gains this year? How would you like to be in a high tax bracket and have to pay 50-50% fed + state taxes on a gain in an account that had dropped in value since you bought it in March. I also suspect tax revenue won't be as great next spring as it was this past spring. Mine sure won't be!
