Parsons will join the inner sanctum of George W. Bush's administration. Possible gigs being tossed about include secretary of commerce or U.S. trade representative. The politically and corporate savvy Parsons, a longtime Republican, served under President Gerald Ford as associate director of the Domestic Council. He's also friends with Colin Powell, expected to be named Secretary of State. Whether Parsons would actually give up his top post at Time Warner just as the government is finally clearing the media giant to merge with America Online remains to be seen.
