It's frustrating, I agree. Sometimes it seems as if no progress is being made.

One thing that can't help is the enormous amount of young black men who are going to jail for drug crimes. I think over half of young black men are being sought under an arrest warrant, in jail, in prison, on probation, or out on bond. This bothers me because I think that recreational drugs should be legalized. I don't mind admitting that in my youth, I DID inhale, and while it made me kind of stupid I think I got over it. -g-

People who get arrested for smoking pot have to go through substance abuse programs just to keep out of jail. I think that's a terrible waste of money, that and courts and the jails and the cops and the probation officers. In some places it is almost impossible to do a federal civil trial because the criminal trials have taken over the system.

Are we better off? I think not.

I advocate legalizing marijuana, for a start. I also think that hash, opium, heroin, cocaine, crack, LSD and Ecstasy should be legal. Yep. Put the pushers out of business, sell it at the store. Put the gangs out of business, too.

The only problem is that I envision even more kids being abandoned by their moms who get hooked on crack, and I don't like that. So maybe just marijuana and hash, try legalizing that and see how it goes.

Funny how the liberals want to ban smoking cigarettes in public places. What would they do if marijuana was legal? -g-
