Ron,

Thanks for the link. I just retired 2 years ago and could give you a book on the current sorry state of the military. Still a great bunch of people to work with, but the organization is much more interested in political correctness than being able to fight a war. The officer corps is as weak as it's ever been. The cream rises to the top and leaves. What's left behind are those that get over by going with the flow and not rocking the boat. The USS Cold disaster didn't surprise most of us. We always said the easiest way to take out an aircraft carrier was to fly a Cessna into it loaded with explosives. No current CO would shoot down a civilian plane without explicit permission from a Fleet Commander who would probably need to go to DC to get further permission. You get fired quicker by having an affair than for killing someone. Leadership and talent are no longer rewarded, covering thy ass is the watchword now. Look good on paper and the promotions keep coming. Co-ed training, don't ask don't tell, females in combat, etc., the military has become a social science experiment at the expense of true readiness and warfighting capability. Enough. Take care and thanks again for the link. Regards
