Do you prefer MRVC over ATML?

Yes.

I think MRVC is a victim of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

MRVC, assuming a favorable ruling for tax free distribution, intends to distribute the remaining 92% of LMNE to shareholders in the late spring. If LMNE were only trading at $6 at the time, MRV will carve ~$1B market cap out of itself with that distribution. Since MRV is trading at $18 right now, that would mean the rest of MRV is worth about $225M.

Optical Access (free space optics) is the next IPO on deck and ready to go pending a change in market conditions. Zaffire, Zuma, Charlotte's Web Networks, iTouch, and a half dozen other startups exist within MRV.

ATML is my semi equipment stock of choice. They are expanding production capacity with recently announced new plant construction in Colorado.

I think MRVC could be a triple and ATML a double in 2001.

My assumption is that 2001 will not be a recession in the making and we are experiencing a temporary slowdown, otherwise my two picks probably should be short picks instead...

(I can go on if you'd like! <ggg>)

Oh, and thanks for the great thread. I seldom miss a post here.

Mike

Tom,

Congrats on the Great Thread.

My long pick is ASYT. Current price on 12/15/00 close at 11-13/16
My short pick is RIMM.Current price on 12/15/00 close at 85-13/16

I suppose you will use Dec 31 closing prices. Personally, I would ss RIMM above 90's, or into a spike.
