Doesnt this kind of news demand quick action by the fed(rate cut) and the government(stimulative tax cut)? We will get neither until January at the earliest it appears. One can make the case that this is a fed induced bumpy soft landing or that the fed acted prudently in bursting the bubble that would have caused a severe recession if left unchecked. In any case it hurts like hell.
PS To maintain our sanity i think we have to average together last years y2k christmas and this one and view the economy over a two year span with growth to resume sometime in 2001. With that perspective one can view holding as long term with some degree of confidence.
