On the issue of speed of GPRS v. 1X. We have seen that a wireless web service can be successful at lower speeds - I think what content and services are made available is key. Of course I want speed <g> but I don't think this is as critical as content. On the one hand when using my wireless service as a modem for my laptop speed is critical but for most access will be via phone and that is where the provider's content will matter.

Coming back to speed - Is it not correct to say that 1X also offers more bandwidth? In other words can't a 1X provider offer access at cheaper rates since they have more capacity (since packets can fly faster and the bandwidth is shared then we have more capacity? no? just like for voice). If this statement is incorrect could someone please explain in detail why? If it is correct as I expect
then I don't think the argument should be about speed but capacity and ability of the provider to offer wireless web at lower cost.
