your pal el gee must be in heaven with this : Update! Advanced Search Beta: Dear Silicon Investor Members, Six weeks ago, we released a beta version of the Advanced Search to all Premium Members. (Advanced Search allows you to search the full text of messages written on Silicon Investor. You can narrow the searches based on subject, author, recipient and multiple words and phrases.) Based on comments, questions and feedback from our members, we've made some improvements to Advanced Search. We're also taking this opportunity to expand the distribution of the beta version to all members and guests of Silicon Investor. Here is a list of the changes: 1) Highlighted search results -- If you search for "Microsoft" and "software," these terms will be higlighted in red when displayed in the search results. 2) Number of results is displayed -- At the top of the search results page, the total number of matches is listed. NOTE: If you return a search with more than 200 results, only the first 200 (ranked by date) are returned. We also suggest that you narrow your search. 3) All relevant results displayed -- Some users complained that not all of the messages were being returned. This is because we were only returning results with a relevancy (a score assigned by our search software) greater than 30 percent. Searches now are returning results of any relevancy. 4) Search box at the top of the page -- On the search page, you can now perform a search by clicking the button at the top or bottom of the available criteria. 5) Updated Help Section -- Click on How Advanced Search Works on the main search page. For those of you who haven't yet tried out the search, it also allows you to save your favorite searches, change the display format and choose among a variety of sophisticated criteria.
