Now back to Mr. Chester A. Arthur, one of the most forgettable American presidents. Now as you should know the highest public position he held had been collector of cusotm ravenue for the Port of New York - a position he had been forced to leave amid charges of corruption and mismanagement. Then he ties up to the powerful Republican machine and wins the nomination as candidate for vice presdient! How do you explain that? And what was the connection between Mr.Arthur and Gen. Henry Sheldon Sanford that lead to recognition of Congo as a Belgium Colony by the United States! An act that lent legality to one of the most shameful chapters in the colonial history! Please let me beneifit from your insight!
