All the in-your-face institutions are infested with statists: Academia, Arts, Media, Politics,.... Academia is a little island of socialism in the midst of America.

The "values" of the coddled lead to things like 5 out of 8 girls in the local high school being pregnant. Not making that number up at all. That was a few years back, and I hope and believe that the dynamics that promoted those results have been swinging back to the center. Government subsidizes and promotions of single "parent" households played a big role in those girls lives. Would make a good case study for an "honest" socialist to see how his values trickle down.
