Ok understood. It's a little premature IMO to think that the FED is going to actually make a move on rates at the next meeting. I think it would be a terrible admission that the economy is in serious trouble; worthy of not only a shift in bias, but a shift and a change in policy all at the same time. NOT GOOD.

AG has a reputation for not making rash decisions. He's more apt to make gradual changes. I don't see the FED deviating from this stance on Dec19.

If a lot of people were considering a rate cut as you say, the markets would certainly be discounting this possibility right now which it hasn't. Last FOMC meeting under Clinton, so I can see him wanting to go out with a bit of a bang now that Gore has lost.

Market growth is decelerating fast, and rate cuts take roughly 9 months to have an effect, so I can see GP throwing in a nice surprise given that it's the holiday season and all. Even if I'm am incorrect, the market will definitely be considering this possibility between now and Tues. afternoon - might be a good time to go long on something...
