I know several people who have paid upwards of 100k worth of capital gains taxes in recent years, that will be getting refunds this year from estimated taxes paid in the first half of the year. And will have losses to carry forward into the next tax year.

Sad thing? None of these people were heavy into the dotcoms. None were heavy into high PE stocks. None were heavy on margin but got drug down from 10% to 50% and had to sell.
