Re estate tax ---

I see them accelerating the increase in the unified credit so that it is $1,000,000 effective 2002. Also they will probably increase farm/small business exemption to $3,000,000.

I agree with you that a repeal is unlikely --- as you say, in the last go around the democrats knew the bill could never pass.

Looks like Microsoft will need all the help they can get from GWB. I wonder if Bush realizes the political price he will have to pay for releasing the pressure on Microsoft. Since the case is on appeal, there would have to be a negotiated settlement which is certain to draw a lot of publicity. Will there be demands for an investigation of any kind of a sweetheart deal? By the way, who will be the new Atty General? If Bush is smart, he will appoint a career person from the Justice Department.
