Of course it isn't balanced. It was probably written by one of Gore's lawyers. Didn't recognize the name. But most humor is unbalanced. <that can be taken two ways, can't it!>

BTW, your victory prize is on its way. There ARE some honest lawyers who do pay off when they lose. I'm not even asking for a re-clocking, not arguing that it was past midnight in the UK where the President of the US and therefore the seat of government was so that should be the official time, not whining. Just admitting that I lost and paying. Refreshing, huh?

Well, in the litigation I do -- mostly family law -- the Courts do tend to bend the rules if they need to in order to achieve what they see as fair results. But generally I agree with you. I go up against unrepresented parties sometimes, and it's a mixed blessing. On the one hand, I can usually eat them for lunch unless my client is a real scuzzball. OTOH, the judges bend over backwards to give them the benefit of the doubt, and they're very hard to negotiate with because they have no idea of what the court is likely to do so take almost EVERYTHING to court instead of settling for basic ordinary things, which mounts up my client's costs a lot. So it's a mixed blessing. Like most of life.
