He Lives There! He eats at the local restaurants & swims on the beach. He's a national celebrity.(Though less of one now than 6 months ago. If he barks the local papers Meow. it's the way it works.) If I live in a town & get coverage in the local newspaper every day as the local peda/e?file/cat burgler/wall-street rip off artist, & may have murdered my wife and my last 15 mistresses -- I'm gonna get at least 25% of the vote, irregardless of my positions on anything. It's called voter recognition. This is no dope we're talking about here(#1 in HS class, #1 in gorgetown U also I think?), and also massive extrovert. You talk to the people down there and they know his name, & lots of them know him. He gets around. IMO, At least 25% of the voters(and some would say over 60%) have little knowledge of underlying positions. I'd feel real humble if I got Pat's vote down there. Name recognition goes #2. it had EVERYTHING to do with Bush being elected as opposed to Gore. Gore was low profile over the last 8 years. And when the time came for hime to go hi profile he got stiff. That's the way I see it. tgptndr
