Dan,

Never heard of "Fred Hickey" or "Goutama Tanner" (only appeared in first post of article by dhellman). I think the reporter got a little mixed up... best guess is that Fred Hickey discovered Goutama's work (perhaps reading SI). Wish Goutama had clearly gotten credit in the more mainstream (non-WSJ subscriber) article.
