Ted, short term fluctuations are not accurate indications of economic tendencies. The effects of 1.5 years of dogged, stubborn hikes are becoming noticeable. The effects are evident in the slowing of earnings, and no industry seems to be immune. These are clear and scary signs of contraction. It was noticeable during the last quarter and it's obvious now. It will take longer for a reversal to take effect.

Al,

I understand that about the short term fluctuations...actually I was emphasizing that the drop was 3K rather than the forecast of 32K..a significant difference.

Yeah, I see the contraction but I think presently its being overhyped. The ADBE's and ORCL's are overlooked and the MSFT's are being screamed from the mountain tops. I am not saying we have problems but the problems are of the type that people are not spending rather than they are losing their jobs....yet. That's a big difference and its why I don't think the feds are behind the curve.

I think of it like a game of chicken...you have to wait until the absolute last minute before you jump away to insure that you get the full effects of the rate cuts.

But what do I know.....I gave up a good portion of a 250% profit, thinking that the Naz will rally this fall. ;~))
