"In my opinion his appointment was the worst error made by a republican president" I don't blame Greenspan for that, however. Now you can question his judgement for taking the job, Volcker resigned for a reason. Even with the minimal understanding we have of economics, it was easy to predict the recession of '90-92, it grew directly out of the policies that Reagan wanted to see implemented. Not that Volcker understood enough to avoid the "economic downturn" of '90-92, but to do things that basically guaranteed it would happen was, well, stupid.
