Changed computers, so now I have the letter "r" back. It appears that Hawaii's Electoral votes were accepted because they didn't make a difference. Dick Nixon would not have acquiesced if it would have given him a shot at the White House.

Having everything settled by 12/12 meant no floor fights in Congress. Gore was the one demanding it all be done by 12/12/00, and Boies told the Court in oral argument that Gore would take whatever the total was as of 12/12/00, even if it meant that the recount wasn't complete. That didn't sit well with Kennedy at all, he got irate. I think it was Kennedy. Asked him, "well, isn't that contrary to the State Supreme Court order?"

Maybe Gore could have had the recount done by 1/6/00, maybe not. What then?
