Don't know if you are aware of this, but no court ever found that Sec. Harris abused her discretion. Judge Lewis said she exercised it properly, the Florida Supreme Court said she made an error of law. That order was vacated and remanded. You're right, as it stands now, the re-written order still stands. Probably moot, though.

I got a thank-you letter from Sec. Harris thanking me for my support. Really. I doubt very much that her decision was motivated by the desire to be awarded an ambassadorship. She was co-chair of the Florida Bush campaign, and campaigned for him in the snow, I believe it was in New Hampshire. She handed out strawberries and orange juice.

It's not at all unusual for politicians to inspire devotion. But the key thing, in my mind, is that even though she exercised her discretion in favor of Bush, she exercised it within the bounds of the law.
